Blues

.

Blues is commonly known as a musical genre that originated in the African-American communities in the “Deep South” of the United States around the end of the 19th century from spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts and chants, and ballads.

Blues is not only a musical genre, but also a whole family of dances (such as “Slow Drag” and “Fishtails”) related through their shape, culture, and musicality. Today, Blues is a close partner dance that combines its original elements with contemporary concepts of connection, improvisation and natural body movement.

At Swing it (formerly Holy Lindy Land), Blues is a dance track of its own. As opposed to Lindy Hop and Charleston, Blues is danced to slow music. Our weekly Blues parties are held at a different location more suitable for the Bluesy atmosphere – The Dancing Camel Pub & Brewery, 12 Ha’Taasiya street.

Blues dance lessons enhance your connection with yourself, your partner, and the music. In addition, these courses will help dancers in other social dances as well.
